Barefoot Bay is a deed restricted community of manufactured homes where you own your home and the land. Founded in 1969 it is located in south Brevard midway between Melbourne and Vero Beach along the Indian River Lagoon (Inter-coastal Waterway). This unique community provides residents with activities and events year-round. A centrally located community center is the hub of activity, whether it is playing golf, playing cards, fishing, boating, swimming, and enjoying community-based, planned activities such as dances, horseshoes, and shuffleboard tournaments there are just so many recreation possibilities that Barefoot Bay's residents are always on the move. The typical Barefoot Bay residents are retirees, who are married without children. Nearly a third are single-person households. Their money often comes from Social Security, interest, dividends and pensions and they rank high for investments and savings. Most of their income is disposable. As many as 10,000 residents call this home! They own single-family or manufactured homes in newer or established neighborhoods that include seasonal housing for snowbirds. The community has churches and shopping. Children are welcome in Barefoot Bay. They don’t set age limits for the community; they believe the sound of children playing keeps us all young!
