Melbourne Village is a small community located in Brevard County adjacent to the larger cities of Melbourne and West Melbourne. In 1947, a group of people from Dayton, Ohio, came to Florida and bought a .5 square mile of land between Melbourne and West Melbourne. To maintain the area's identity, they named it Melbourne Village. In 1957, the Town of Melbourne Village was incorporated. Pressure had been put on Melbourne to expand to handle the growth brought by the space program. To avoid annexation, the Village became a separate municipality. Return to Neighborhoods |
