The City of Cape Canaveral is bounded on the north by Port Canaveral, on the east by the Atlantic Ocean, on the south by Cocoa Beach and on the west by the Banana River. This approximately 2 square-mile beach and coastal community is about 50 miles east of Orlando and is located on a barrier island approximately midpoint between Miami and Jacksonville. In the last few years Cape Canaveral has become an integral part of the tourism industry in the north beach area of Brevard County. With a resurgent´s in growth the City has seen new condominiums developments and businesses focusing on retirement, resort, vacation and recreational activities blend into its casual beach lifestyle. With a mixture of old and new there are homes available for just about everyone´s taste.

If you are a nature buff, Canaveral National Seashore provides a wide variety of habitats to explore including ocean, beach, dune, hammock, lagoon, salt marsh, and pine flatlands. With 1,045 species of plants and 310 species of birds the park offers a blend of plant and animal life. The park provides a home for many endangered species including, but are not limited to, loggerhead, green and leatherback sea turtles, West Indian Manatee, Southern bald eagle, wood stork, peregrine falcon, eastern indigo snake, and Florida scrub jay. |

The park has two districts and the Seminole Rest Site. The North District is in Volusia County, near New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Seminole Rest is also located in Volusia County in Oak Hill, Florida. The South District, in Brevard County is near Titusville, Florida
Throughout the year visitors find opportunity for recreational activities such as lagoon and surf fishing, boating, canoeing, surfing, sunbathing, swimming, hiking, and backcountry camping. Or many just enjoy walking the nature and historical trails. |
