The community of Viera started out as a small celery farm when Andrew Duda brought his family from Czechoslovakia in 1912 to live the American dream. Starting in the 1980's the Duda family decided to create a master planned community, the new Town of Viera which will eventually emcompass 38,000 acres. The surrounding communities will be filled with wildlife habitats, golf courses, conservation areas, lakes, nature trails, and recreational parks. Golf, tennis, biking and hiking are all part of the Viera experience. When you are in the mood for shopping, look no further, The Avenue Viera has an abundant number of shops for just about anything you or your family may need. And when hunger strikes, they've got you covered with many eating establishments such as the Melting Pot, Pizza Gallery, Mimi's Cafe and many more. Before or after a good meal you can catch that current movie you've been wanting to see at the Rave - a 16 screen, stadium seating theatre. The beautiful beaches of Brevard County are just a short 15 minute drive. You will be able to discover the joys of fishing boating and more on the Indian River Lagoon, Banana River Lagoon or the Atlantic Ocean.
Viera is home to many of the county's government buildings and the Space Coast Stadium, which is the home field for the Brevard County Manatees, former spring training home to the Florida Marlins, and now training home to the Washington Nationals. Return to Neighborhoods |
